Maker: Resident + Gensler
Since their first Chairity collaboration in 2019 San Francisco based Gensler and Aotearoa (New Zealand) based Resident have reimagined found objects into beautiful heirloom pieces.
This year inspired by their benefactor of choice, Friends Of The Urban Forest, and “Peace, Love & Chairity” theme they saw a correlation between the legacy of a tree and the fundamentals of humanity, bringing you Rimu Sharing Boards. The segments & angles are inspired by the “Peace & Love” symbol, celebrating voices coming together to collectively nurture, empathize and share wisdom.
Native timber has been reclaimed from Old World forest in the Northland region. The cold and low oxygen depths has left the log completely preserved. This log has its own special characteristics producing a unique color grain and character not found in any type of wood. The recovery and processing of this ancient timber is done sustainably and with respect.
